This August come to the Thumb area of the state and enjoy some great times.  There are 24 different fairs and festivals planned just for your enjoyment.  Plenty of good food, good friends and plenty of good things to do.  Enjoy the Thumb this summer! Also be sure to check out the great family activities going on in the entire state during the month of August and into Labor Day Holiday Weekend!

 

Marine City Maritime Days

Location:  Downtown Marine City

Maritime Days is a civic celebration remembering the city of Marine City’s maritime heritage on the beautiful blue water of the St. Clair River. Music, motorcycle show, arts & crafts, parade, fireworks and more.

Fenton Kiwanis Art at the Center
Date: 08/11/12

Come join us for the Taste of Fenton and the Art Fair at the Taste in Fenton, noon to 8pm at the Fenton Community and Cultural Center grounds, 150 S. Leroy, Fenton MI.  Over 50 artists will be displaying their work and over 15 eateries will be selling tickets to taste their delicious food

Will on the Water

Location: St. Clair

Enter Stage Right will present vignettes from various plays and performances of period music. In addition to performances on the Globe, a variety of interactive “Pageant Wagons” will give visitors a taste of 16th century life ranging from sword fighting to dancing. Join the fun. The festival runs from 11am – 4pm both days. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children/Seniors.

Bay County Fair and Youth Expo

Come on out to the fairgrounds on August 7 – 11, 2012, for our annual County Fair. We will have lumberjack shows, chain-saw carvings, axe throwing, a world of animal show, exhibits, carnival rides and games

Eastern Michigan Fair

Location: Eastern Michigan Fairgrounds, Imlay City, MI

Annual fair that promotes local agriculture and creates a positive experience through exhibits, rides, family activities, entertainment and much more. The Eastern Michigan Fair is all about kids enjoying rides, making the final preparations to show their animals in 4-H competition, petting a goat in the Petting Zoo, watching a circus and eating cotton candy. It’s fun, inexpensive and safe!

Summer Music Fest 2012

Location: Heritage Park – Frankenmuth

The Summer Music Festival is located in the Harvey Kern Pavilion in Heritage Park. A celebration of music. Polish, German and Solvenian ethnic style music. Dancing, food, and beverages. Tickets required. Parking is free. August 7-11, 2012, and August 17 & 18, 2012.

Shiawassee County Fair – Corunna

The Annual Shiawassee County Fair will run August 5 -11. The fairgrounds will be alive with 4-H and FFA youth projects, agricultural and commercial displays, amusement rides and daily family entertainment. The Grandstand provides thrills and excitement every night with engines roaring, horses straining, and fans screaming for their favorites.

Cheeseburger in Caseville

Midland County Fair

Come and have fun watching the horse races, demolition derby, figure 8 racing and championship rodeo. Food vendors will be a hit when your hungry plus all the midway games and rides

Downtown Flint is host to the annual Back to the Bricks Cruise Weekend. Enjoy five days of automotive excitement at the Annual Back to the Bricks Cruise and Car Show.

Montrose Blueberry Festival

Come and enjoy the car show, dance competition, art exhibit, ORV or snowmobile races (yes..in August) and a talent show. The Montrose Blueberry Festival features two great parades and the annual Blueberry Mud Drag/Mud Bog. Mouthwatering food is a festival tradition and the annual pancake breakfast is no exception. In addition there is the demolition derby, Texas Hold’em, Montrose American Idol and more.

Birch Run Blues, Brews & Barbecue

Blues, Brews & Barbecue is a Kansas City Barbecue Society (KCBS) sanctioned competition where teams compete in four different events: chicken, ribs, pork & brisket. There are prizes for each category in addition to overall champion. In addition to the cash prizes, the winner will be invited the the Kansas City Royale to compete nationally. In addition to great barbecue, there is great blues music all weekend long. This year there are seven professional acts performing in the entertainment tent, where you can enjoy the great music while sipping on your favorite adult beverage. When you get hungry there are numerous food vendors from all corners of Michigan ready to meet your needs.

Lapeer Days Festival

Mid-Michigan’s premier free family festival. Three stages of non-stop free entertainment for the entire family. Skerbeck Bros. Carnival and Midway, parade, classic car show, craft show, 150 vendors, free children’s activities, clowns, magicians, and talent competition. National entertainers from rock to country perform on main stage throughout the weekend!

ABC Day

ABC – Antiques, Bean Soup, Crafts and Collectibles! There will be food, crafts, petting zoo, face painting, kickball tournament, fire hall tour, entertainment, free shuttle rides from 10am to 4pm.

Harsen’s Island Bluegrass Festival

Location: Harsens Island Schoolhouse Grille

Come and enjoy Americas music and get back to you roots. Spend the day in the beautiful scenery of Harsen’s Island. Shop local vendors showing off their talents in art, jewelry, organic foods and wares. Music both local and statewide. Fun for all ages. Outdoor BBQ, beer tent, fresh squeezed lemonade stand. Bluegrass bands and local talent. Lonesome County to headline.

 Day Out With ThomasTM

Call all Sleuths! Help our favorite No.1 engine find clues and solve a mystery! Thomas the Tank EngineTM is pulling into Crossroads Village for Day Out With ThomasTM: Mystery On The Rails Tour 2012. Thomas and his friends bring six full days of fun, from 9am to 5pm each day. Train rides are scheduled on the hour from 10am to 3pm.

Sanilac County 4H Fair

Clio Fest

Harvest Festival

On the 4th weekend of August every year the St. Clair County Farm Museum gives you a taste of yesteryear. It is a celebration of our American heritage and a salute to our forefathers and women that made America great. Find antique tractors, equipment, hit and miss engines, homesteading, fashions, and history of daily life relived. You can view live demonstrations of steam powered threshing, steam powered saw mill operation and plowing with antique tractors. So come, relax and spend a day of years gone by!

Elkton Autumnfest

Family festival with tractor pulls, demolition derby’s, truck endurance competitions, bingo, a parade, a chicken BBQ, live concerts, an entertainment tent, midway games and more! It all takes place in Ackerman Park and throughout the downtown area of Elkton.

Michigan Bean Festival – 2012

There is something for all ages at the Michigan Bean Festival in Fairgrove from craft and car shows, tractor pulling, casino and entertainment tents with live bands, mud bog, free beans daily, the grand parade and the crowning of the State Bean Queen.
