On a summer weekend, on the streets of Downtown Saline, a sweeping assortment of activities, attractions, and amusements will bring together people of all ages and interests for one super hometown celebration – Saline’s Summerfest. Summerfest features the traditional family-oriented food, music, and fun of Saline’s annual “Picnic in the Park.” Add a juried craft and art show, a trolley tour of Saline’s most intriguing historical sights, a 5K run/walk event, and other special treats. Pet Fest, a two day event this year, will be located at the Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds between Ann Arbor and Saline. Pet Fest is the largest pet festival in southeastern Michigan with an annual attendance of nearly 5,000 passionate pet owners. We have enjoyed hosting over a 100 diverse and interesting booths each year and we are dedicated to making Pet Fest fun for all: exhibitors & attendees alike.

This is the world’s largest one-day celebration of car culture and attracts more than 1 million visitors and more than 40,000 muscle cars, street rods, custom, collector and special interest vehicles. The first annual Lansing Beer Week will take place from August 19 to August 25, 2012. This week-long celebration will feature Michigan craft beer themed events throughout the greater Lansing area. The event will be showcasing a variety of musical performances ranging from rock, jazz, blues, Latin jazz, salsa, and country. The Haven Hill Festival, a celebration of Edsel and Eleanor Fords’ historic Haven Hill Estate and the Highland State Recreation Area. The Haven Hill Festival is a celebration of the amazing natural and historic resources of the Highland State Recreation Area. This year’s event will include a vintage baseball game, summer foods, vintage Model A Ford cars, and walking tours of Haven Hill with a shuttle up and down the hill. Bring picnic blankets, sun umbrellas and folding chairs to stay and watch the Old Fashioned Base Ball game! Parking is at the Goose Meadow picnic shelter area, the first right turn on Haven Hill Road after you enter the park off of M-59 between Duck Lake and Bogie Lake Roads. A $10 Recreation Passport is required for entering State Parks, Recreation Areas, State Forest Campgrounds, Non-motorized Trail Head Parking and Boat Launches.

Plan to visit fantastical places to witness acts of horror and hilarity at this year’s Michigan Shakespeare Festival in its 18th season. The Festival brings language to life in unique and wonderful ways. This year’s season include Richard III, Love’s Labour’s Lost, and George Bernard Shaw’s Pygmalion. The MSF’s professional Shakespearean company will run shows from July 12-August 12, 2012, at Jackson Community College at the Michael Baughman Theatre.
Harvest Festival & Corn Days

Harvest Festival & Corn Days will take place on Saturday, August 25 and Sunday, August 26 from 10 am – 4 pm, at the Farm Center. Good old-fashioned fun, with something for everyone! Entertainment will include horse riding and dog and goat agility demonstrations, chainsaw carving, sheep shearing and an antique tractor parade. Go on a wagon ride, enter a pie eating contest and make a craft. Crafts and farm fresh goods will be available by local crafters and growers. The festival is $5/person, preregistration is not required.
