The Freight Hoppers in Concert

During the 1990’s, the Freight Hoppers became the most popular modern day old time stringband in the world, with two albums in the top 20 Billboard Americana charts. After more than a decade they’ve released their eagerly anticipated new album, Mile Marker, including music first recorded in the late 1920’s and early 1930’s. The Freight Hoppers play hard driving, high energy dance music with an emotional, raw excitement that keeps one foot planted in the past and the other in the present. Starts at 7:30 pm. General admission seating $10 – $12.

The St. Joseph Wine Festival is a festival of music food and fun at the Silver Beach Shadowland Pavilion in St. Joseph. It will feature seven wineries both local and State of Michigan based, reds, whites, roses and sparkling varieties of wine will be featured. All tickets include a commemorative wine glass and one glass of wine. 6-10pm.

Be a part of history as a brand new musical hits the Barn Theatre stage. This part drama/part concert story revolves around a rock and roll siren as she comes to terms with her past. Brendan Ragotzy has written the book, with music by Troy Benton, Grammy Award-winner Richard Marx, Fee Waybill (of The Tubes) and Gary Cherone (of Van Halen, Extreme). The Captain briefs the young recruits on operations and procedures that will insure not only the sighting of pirates, but also the capturing of the scoundrels and, in the tradition of the buccaneers, sharing in their loot. Never has so much adventure been packed into one 90 minute sail. Sails are scheduled Wednesday through Saturdays during the summer months. Sails open to children four years and up. In the archives of the Liberty Hyde Bailey Museum over one-hundred glass plate negatives taken by America’s Father of Modern Horticulture, Liberty Hyde Bailey were uncovered. This summer, for the first time in over a century, these images will be able to be viewed by the public. At this premier exhibit, connect to America’s eminent horticulturalist-philosopher through these rare images taken at the turn of the 20th century.

International Aerospace Art Exhibit

The 2012 American Society of Aviation Artists (ASAA) International Aerospace Art Exhibit features more than 50 pieces of aviation and space artwork. Visitors are able to experience aviation and space like they never have before-through the eyes of artists. Featured artwork includes drawings, stained glass, paintings and sculptures that depict a variety of themes, including the Apollo 11 launch, the attack on Pearl Harbor and more. The exhibit includes artwork from more than 30 world-renowned aviation and space artists. The exhibit will be on display  through Sept. 8, 2012. Pirate Invasion – Exhibit

Location: Corner of Broad and State  Streets

Landlubbers in downtown St. Joseph will encounter scallywags, buried treasure and denizens of the deep this summer! The exhibit will feature 27 sculptures including pirates, treasure chests, dolphins, sea­horses, sea turtles and pelicans. Don’t miss the pirate ship at the corner of Broad and State streets! Friends Good Will is a tall ship sailing out of the Michigan Maritime Museum. The square topsail sloop is a replica of a ship of that name that fought for both the US and Great Britain during the War of 1812. The ship takes regularly scheduled sails on lake Michigan, with crew dressed in full 1812 era regalia.
